A heavily decorated and adorned scorpionfish, this species was named for it's discovery in the the muck diving mecca of Ambon. It has since been found in Lembeh and many other "muck" destinations throughout the Indo-Pacific. They are extremely variable in color and degree of camouflage. This particular individual is among the most attractive of its species,. The beautiful magenta coloration contrasts nicely with the black sand bottom.
