Aglaiocercus coelestis If you love hummingbirds, the Andean Cloud Forest is the place for you. This stunning Sylph was one of dozens of species I photographed in the Choco Region of Ecuador. The tail feathers of this species are incredible (most of the color is on the backside and not visible here), and almost seem to compensate for the relatively short bill. Mindo, Ecuador

Ateles geoffroyi Curiosity has gotten the best of this young spider monkey. He descended from his perch high up in the rainforest canopy to have a closer look at the photographer. Spider monkeys are one of the most intelligent primates. Certain studies have suggested that of all non-human primates, only chimpanzees and orangutans possess a higher level of intelligence than the spider monkey. Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica
